ABOUT REMY CHWAE

I studied illustration at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA from 2007–2009 and then obtained a certificate in the 2-year traditional sign painting program at L.A. Trade Tech. College in 2014. In 2018, I earned a postgraduate certificate in Typeface Design at The Cooper Union’s Type@Cooper Condensed Program in New York. I ran my own sign painting business, Acme Sign Co., from 2013 to 2022.

I earned a BA in political science from Columbia University in 2023 to pursue a career in public interest law, but realized that I can’t leave behind a creative career. I now live in New York working as a book designer for Artisan Books imprint at Hachette, while also freelancing as a lettering artist and graphic designer.
